A couple of weeks ago, two of my close friends and I were sippin’ wine, laughing and singing along to some Jesse Reyez. Our infamous "Porch Night" in full swing. Usually unplanned, yet always precedes at the most accurate time. Always at Amber's house and Afnan’s hookah is our consistent statute of honor.
In the midst of one of our comfortable silences, Afnan interrupts and asks “What would you name this chapter of your life?” We all look at each other and, for once, are stumped. We soon start throwing out words that describe each of our lives. One in common that we all sang out praise to was – lost. 20-something women living in metropolitan Indianapolis, breathing in love and life like oxygen, living for the day that is landed in front of us - I couldn’t quite let that one word settle. Instead I chose to jump on the phrase curated by my recently favorite artist, Sabrina Claudio - Confidently Lost.
Even though weeks have passed by, this simple yet complex questions remains one of the final thoughts that linger in my brain before I go to sleep. Do I want to remain in this chapter? What is my next?
So here is my question for you, what chapter is this for you? Be completely honest with yourself.
My girls and I vowed to report back every year. But let’s be honest, every author has varying lengths of chapters. Some short, some long, some a combination of both. Yet, I look forward to a message from either of them informing me of their new chapters.
So, I will ask again, what chapter are you in?
And finally – when and what is your next title?
